We were so lucky with the lovely weather on Saturday 12 September.

First, we treated ourselves to some coffee and cake with whipped cream on the cake – or, as some people did, whipped cream on their coffee.

Afterwards, everyone found a lovely spot around the Plaetse farm in Heeze or on the nearby Strabrechtse Heide. The heather was still in full bloom and everything was a shade of purple.

With a group of five painters, we walked towards the heath with our painting gear. ‘I’ll sit here,’ I said, and the rest of the group walked further into the heath. So I dropped everyone off and, as the very last one, quietly sat down on the heath myself.

I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and the beautiful purple view. There was a lot of interest from walkers, cyclists and runners. Everyone was surprised to see us sitting there drawing and painting on the heathland.

So, as well as producing a really lovely drawing, I had lots of nice chats with passers-by.

As far as I’m concerned, it was a very successful day and I wouldn’t hesitate to join in again next year.

Outdoor painting day

There was a great deal of interest in this day trip to Het Depot in Wageningen; the coach was almost full! We started at Lievendaal with coffee and cakes, where Mies Berendse gave us some practical information about the day’s programme.

At Het Depot, and also outside in the beautiful Arboretum, there were various exhibitions featuring contemporary sculptures of torsos, as well as fragments of the human body.

There was such a wide variety on display, in terms of form, material, symbolism and size – and there was even a moving sculpture.

A surprising contrast to the often smoothly polished sculptures were the creations of Emile van der Kruk, who used a chainsaw to carve highly detailed works from wood.

In between, we were able to enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch. It was certainly a successful and well-organised day. Well done to the organisers!

To see all 600 sculptures, you’ll have to go back again.

Unique exposition 24 and 25 January

It was a pleasant trip with "Potlood en Penseel", a good atmosphere right from the start at the bus and the friendly bus driver. He helped us get on and off the bus and he turned out to be a ery well driver too.

After a coffee break in Thorn with delicious "Limburg pie", we were able to start our walk in beautiful Insel Hombroich with full stomachs after another hour's drive.

A beautiful museum park with nature outside and art inside in beautiful pavilions with very attractive views.

The weather was exceptionally nice that day, and we think everyone really enjoyed the art and the peaceful nature with its autumn colors.

And let's not forget the delicious “Bauernmahlzeit” (farmer's meal).

With "" Potlood en Penseel" naar Insel Hombroich

What a day Saturday, 13 September was! The weather may have been a little disappointing, but that didn't stop us from capturing the beauty of Geldrop Castle. Armed with our brushes, canvases and, above all, our good humour, we sought shelter on the beautiful estate.

The most atmospheric works of art were created! It was fantastic to see how everyone captured the serene, autumnal atmosphere in their own unique way. The focus was on the garden with the warm colours of autumn already in sight, which resulted in beautiful paintings.

The day was a great success, full of inspiration, conviviality and, of course, a lot of cheerfulness. A big thank you to everyone who was there; your enthusiasm made this day unforgettable, rain or shine! Of course, we had a drink and a chat afterwards. Keep an eye on the website for photos of the next outing!

An Unforgettable Painting Challenge at Geldrop Castle!

Our annual exhibition on 25 and 26 January was again a true celebration of colour, creativity and connection. It was great to see so many of your wonderful works admired. The photos now on display on this website perfectly capture the diversity and talent within our association. From delicate pencil sketches to expressive brushstrokes, each picture tells its own story and shows the passion that binds us.

But of course, such a successful exhibition does not come about by itself. A lot of hard work went on behind the scenes, and we would like to take a moment to acknowledge that. A warm and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful volunteers of community centre "de Lievendaal". Your hospitality and tireless help during the build-up and breakdown were invaluable. Without your flexibility and friendly support, things would never have gone so smoothly.

Kudos also to all those enthusiastic members who rolled up their sleeves. It was heartwarming to see how everyone contributed to setting up the space, hanging the artworks and welcoming the visitors. That joint effort, that shared pride in our work, is what makes "With Pencil and Brush" so special.

And last but not least, a huge round of applause for our fantastic activities committee! Your visionary planning, your boundless energy and your eye for detail ensured that everything was organised to perfection. Thanks to your dedication, we were able to enjoy an atmospheric and inspiring exhibition that we can all look back on with pride.

These photos are not only a beautiful memory of this weekend, but also an inspiration for the future. Let us hold on to this energy, continue to inspire each other and look forward to the next creative challenges that "With Pencil and Brush" will bring us. Together we colour the world!
